Operating System Market Share....

If you'd like to see a pie chart for the various operating systems, please click here.

A recent news story said that there have now been about 175 million licenses sold for the Windows 7 operating system, making it the fastest selling one yet. That's probably because there were about ten million of us helping to test it during its beta phase, and we all had a chance to submit feedback and ideas for it, and by the time it was released, it was as solid as a rock, and a huge improvement on the previous Vista system. I've been using Windows 7 now ever since that first beta came out in January of 2009, and it's great. If you haven't tried it, you should.

  1. Very interesting Ron. Boy, XP clearly has the market right now. I have Win 7 installed on a separate hard drive, but just haven't had the time to move all my STUFF over to that drive. One of these days I'll get to it.

And then the fun will begin. Fortunately, the hard drives are plug-able so I can always return to XP anytime that I want.

  2. @ Tommy -

XP is being phased out by Microsoft,
by them not supporting it, so users will be encouraged to switch over to the newest Windows. XP has been so popular for so long because of the disaster that was Vista. Businesses understandably didn't want to invest in Vista, and hung onto their XP Pro,
    and many still have it.

In a way, it's a shame, because they may not know what they're missing in Windows 7. But they will have to invest in new hardware for the improved Windows,
so a lot of them are still using the old XP.

I liked XP Pro, but I think Win-7
is going to easily take its place once everyone sees what it can do.
Even some of those 'religious' Mac users like Win-7's looks, if they can be persuaded to actually try it.

The day is coming when there won't be any more updates available for XP, and then those who have loved it for so long will have to find a new one, and the business community has already made it clear that won't be Vista. That only leaves one choice.
