About Windows Sidebar Gadgets

In case you have third-party gadgets (those not supplied by Microsoft in Windows) and you'd like to know where they are in your files, here's the story.

There are two places where these gadgets are filed in your system. For the gadgets that come with Windows as "standard equipment", those are filed in Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets\(name of it).

For third-party gadgets, (those not provided with Windows) these are all filed in your normally-hidden AppData folder, which you can find by unhiding that, and then looking for Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets\(gadget name).

If you get an "access denied" because it's in use in another program or some excuse like that, and you can't be bothered tracking that down, or don't know how, but still want to be rid of it, then get Emco's MoveOnBoot from Emco Software which you can find here. This will remove during a reboot anything you don't want in there, and there's a new revision of it just out. And trust me, it works!
