Mount Seymour in the evening sun

These peaks are Mount Seymour, in the Provincial Park of the same name, and according to my local map, they are approximately eight and one-third miles from my window here. I showed this to a friend in the U.K., and he said "It's hard to believe they are that far away."

It seems surprising to me too, but as I said to him, distances here in the mountains are deceptive, because of the sizes of them making them seem to be closer than they really are. So a map is the only way to really tell how far away they actually are, and these worked out to be over eight miles away.

This was taken on the Pentax X70, at 24X optical zoom, and then I used the program PhotoStudio from Arcsoft to enhance and crop it.
