Mars this evening....

If we were on Mars this evening, looking at Earth in a telescope, this is what it
would look like near sunset on the west coast of North America....

And if you have the program Stellarium, you can set it so that your home planet
is any one you choose, in this case Mars, so that I could capture this view, which I think is really neat. The Earth from space looks a lot more inviting than Mars does, I must say. And Uncle Ron, if you're reading this, you can get a copy
of Stellarium by clicking here. And that goes for everyone else as well. It's a great program, and lots of fun. Look in its Help window for a link to its on-line Users Guide.

And this is Mars with its two little moons this evening.

Please Note:

Stellarium doesn't work very well with the 64-bit version of Windows 8, because it hasn't yet been optimized for 64-bit operation. It works fine with 32-bit Windows 7 however, and that's what I'd suggest using with it.
