Windows 8 - Make your own Themes

When you hold down the Windows key while pressing 'PrtScrn', it puts a screenshot capture into a folder 'Screenshots' that it creates inside your user's folder 'My Pictures', and it's very handy. You can save a series of images from (for example) a video you're watching, and then later turn those into a Theme.

Just make a new folder called 'DesktopBackground' (all one word, as shown) into which you drag and drop your selected images for the new theme. Then create another new folder, named for that theme, into which you put this new
'DesktopBackground' folder.

Then, you navigate to C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\ Windows\Themes and then drag and drop your newly created theme folder into that one. While in there, open the new theme folder, open the folder inside it called 'DesktopBackground' and click 'Select All' from the selections up top.
When all images are selected, right-click on one of them, and choose from the dropdown "Set as desktop background". This activates your new theme and you will see one of its images on the monitor. Now choose an empty spot on your screen, right-click that, and from the dropdown choose 'Personalize' from the list. That takes you into your Themes window, where you can configure the new theme for how long you want each image to remain on screen before changing, and other configuration choices. When done, remember to "Save Changes".
And that's all there is to it, Folks..... And it's my opinion that the people who do the bitching about Windows 8 are most likely those who haven't really given it a good fair 'test-drive'. So don't knock it if you haven't tried it. You can do anything with Windows 8 that you did with Windows 7 and then some, as I've just tried to illustrate here, so enjoy it.
