If you just upgraded to Win 8.1 and the Store App won't open....

You need to use your Command Prompt to fix it, and the details of all that can be found by reading these instructions here. It's easy, and it worked for me.

Also, you probably noticed that all those ugly arrows on shortcuts came back in the upgrade, in case you had removed them. So to remove them, you should get the Ultimate Windows Tweaker v. 2.2 and don't be put off because it says Windows 7 and Vista. It also works just fine in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, so don't worry about that.

Another improvement to Windows 8.1 that you may really like is this one that lets you use the desktop gadgets again. It's called 8gadgetpack so just click that word for your download, then on its page click the box with the white arrow and the word Download under it. This lets you use more gadgets than came with your old Windows 7, and it works in both Windows 8 and 8.1, so you can now have your favorite gadgets back. If you have any problems with it, leave me a comment about it. The only gadget that I've ever had a problem with from that selection is the one that shows new Gmail arrivals. It created a problem of surging or cycling with the processors until removed. The rest seem OK.
