In the news...

Let's hope 'Dubya' is keeping up to date on all of this, because he started it.
And the Ayatollah Sistani promising those who take up arms to defend the country will become martyrs is once again mixing religion with politics.

President Obama has said, "We can't fix Iraq..." and he's absolutely right. Iraq has been a hotbed of intrigue for decades, and only the Iraqis can fix it, and only if they have the will and the brains to do it. We can't rebuild a culture that has been around since long before anyone knew the earth was round instead of flat.

Although I've said it before, I'll say it again: religion has started more wars than gunpowder has, because, in the words of Michel de Montaigne (1533-1592) "Nothing is so firmly believed as that which is least known." And while I'm in this book of quotes, Seneca (4 B.C.-A.D.65) said, "Every man prefers belief to the exercise of judgement."
