A look at where I grew up...


I wasn't born here; I was 36 when I first arrived, but this is definitely where I've grown up, and grown old, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

People like to compare cities, and when someone asks how I like it here, I like to say, "I'd rather drive a garbage truck in Vancouver than be the Mayor of Toronto." And that's especially true these days, with the Mayor they've had.
I've never driven a garbage truck, but I drove a B.C. Hydro service vehicle for many years, so I've got a fair idea what that might be like. You're very close to being "in shit" either way. Fortunately, I survived, and I'm vigorously resisting the urge to write my memoirs.
