Your Windows tip for today: Make a Rescue Disc

First, put a blank DVD in your DVD Drive, and then go onto Command Prompt in Administrator mode, and type recdisc.exe and press Enter. You will see some instructions about the blank disc in your DVD Drive (you did that already).....

...so all you have to do now is click the button for 'Create disc' and let it do its thing for a while. It will tell you when it's done. Label your finished disc as Repair Disc Windows 8 32-bit, and stash it somewhere handy. This is a bootable recovery disc which can help you recover from a serious error, and it contains some other useful tools. And I should add that if your system is 64-bit, then you should label your disc accordingly. My PC is 64-bit, but my Windows is 32-bit.
That's because 32-bit does its thing on less RAM than 64-bit should have, and it fits your drive with less space, so there's more of it for your stuff. Just in case Microsoft didn't explain that to you. The trend, they say is toward 64-bit, but that requires different hardware, more RAM, and different Hard Drive formatting. I think it's called "Engineered Obsolescence".
