As a famous Italian Astronomer once said, "Imagination instantly transports us to places spaceships are unable to reach." This is one of those... and if you are wondering why I've depicted those pyramids having a bright white exterior, it's because those were sheathed in white marble before succeeding generations stripped it away to use for other projects. This was a despicable habit of those times, and it spoiled many unique monuments.

There was also a lot of desecration of ancestral statues and stellae by descendants or successors because it was believed that one survived as long as one's name was preserved, and to prevent that survival, removal of the name from a statue or stele destroyed that one's spirit and ended survival. This theory may have some merit, because as we know, some of those ancients survive today because their names are still household words - like King Tut, for example. There's probably more to this than meets the eye. And it all relates to one's name, and one's spirit double, and Ba and Ka and the Hereafter....

If you do some reading about all that, you rather quickly discover that a lot of our ideas about the hereafter, and Heaven or Hell, and souls or "spirit-doubles" came from times and places much earlier in world history than we have been led to believe by contemporary religionizers. And religion, like automobile manufacturing or the advent of modern communications, has evolved and developed throughout the millennia, and continues to do so. Nothing is so firmly believed as that which is least known.

  1. Me, too! It's made from sheets of corrugated plastic poster board, and I did it in less than an hour with just a razor knife and some Crazy Glue. It turned out not too badly. There's something about it that really grabs me!
