That cumulative update for Win-10 (KB3194496)

Windows Updates says there's a problem. Error code 0x80246010, which means my files are corrupted or my Registry is corrupted, or I'm infected. It just isn't their fault.....

But my three security programs all scan and find nothing, and Win-10's own tools also say this system is just fine....

So who do I believe? My own investigations? Or someone who is catching a lot of flak for shipping out a faulty update? I could be wrong, but I think the fault's at the other end.

  1. To install, or not to install, that is the question.
(Paca´s laptop says it has an update for Windows 10.....).

On the other hand, I don´t think Microsoft will broadcast updates worldwide (the beta´s of) which have proved to be faulty.

Yet, the question remains: to install - or not to install. I´ll wait a few more weeks, and see.

Should her machine ever go bust in a few years or so (it´s almost 8 years old), the next system will probably Linux based.

  2. Alas, Windows10 updates have finally been installed on Paca´s machine. Apart from a few glitches concerning the display of the start menu on the left hand side of the screen, all (seems to have) gone well, so far.
The whole process took several (!) hours, at least four or five.

Cortana got gagged and blindfolded, sorry, but we need peace and quiet, not someone around babbling all the time. Or, should I at least listen to Cortana´s voice once? Never say no, just try to learn and augment experience.

    ;-)
