Your stay on Gran Canaria is over, and it's back to the real world, huh?
Are you on the wet side of the local hills, or what? We call this part of Canada "The Wet Coast" because it often is, but this time of year we do get some nice sunny and dry spells.
No we don´t have any such significant dividing ridge here in Germany, in the middle that is, where I live (when I´m here). Our main weather feature is the constant mixing of air from the polar regions and from the tropics, like in a chilly kitchen when you start boiling the water kettle: everything gets damp. Especially in the summer, cold spells can occur, and when they arrive (cold front), they remove the preceding hot airmasses with lots of thunder, hail, and high winds. Unsettled climate, that´s what it is.
Whereas in GC, there prevails a different weather system, the passat winds are constantly blowing from the north east, replacing the lifted hot air at the equator, which drifts away to the northern and southern hemisperes at great altitudes.
The sun is shining most of the time in GC, but the Atlantic ocean always brings a refreshing breeze, so it won´t get as hot as in continental areas of nearby Africa, where you could boil your feet in the sands of the Sahara. My bones feel much better in this warmer climate.
...not much to enjoy in Germany: it´s been a chilly day with rain showers. Typical for this area.
