2014 Pocket Calendar from Radio Havana Cuba

If you would like a 2014 Pocket Calendar from Radio Havana Cuba, the above tells you how to get yours. Send them an email, with your postal address and it will be sent by surface mail, or you can write to their P.O. Box shown above.

This is their recently redesigned website.

Iran and the nuclear problems

Please Note: (October 25/13)
If you visit the Lebanon Daily Star website ( by clicking on 'Home' in the above link) and it offers you a so-called 'short survey' to answer, DO NOT.  Before you know it, you'll be asked questions like "How many credit cards do you have?" and "What are the credit limits on them?" and "Which brands are they?"  And if that isn't 'Phishing' then I'm a monkey's uncle.
Bottom line = Don't respond to their survey request. They ask questions that are none of their business and could set you up for a nasty surprise. Just because it looks like a harmless 'newspaper' website doesn't mean it is. You can't tell a book by its cover!

Perception vs Reality

Haven't we had enough of this yet? Let's see Duffy's story here. Perception isn't the same thing as reality - not even to a politician.

Today's 'Question Everything' is....

"What kind of self respecting sinner would want to with anyone looking like these turkeys?"
These guys can do more for birth control than condoms did, I betcha. Woof!

The snow report

Pretty leaves

The fog report

We've been fogged in for about four days, and today is a little 'iffy' as well.

Elizabeth should talk to Miley 'Twerky' Cyrus....

Elizabeth as we all recall was once the completely wholesome 'Jessie Spano' in the ever-popular 'Saved by the Bell' series, and as we also recall, she became the exotic dancer 'Nomi Malone' alongside Gina Gershon in 'Showgirls' in 1995,
which Videohound's Golden Movie Retriever rates with an enthusiastic 'WOOF!'
which their Rating Scale describes as meaning: "Watching your neighbors' vacation videos might be less painful. May be redeemed by stretches of unintentional amusement." Elizabeth's career has never quite recovered.

But we should note that in spite of all the critics' Golden Raspberries '95 awards and the movie's cult status and all, MGM says it is among its Top 20 grossing films at the box office, so some of us certainly enjoyed it.

Elizabeth has devoted some of her time and efforts since then to doing seminars for young girls to help them with their problems, and discuss some of her own with them. She could and probably should explain to Miley what it's like to let it
all hang out on film and then face the public's real or imagined self-righteousness afterward, while trying to have a career in showbiz. In  case it's not too late already, after Miley's nudity in 'Wrecking Ball'.

Fallout from the Government Shutdown....

The following two graphs are taken from the PDF mentioned above at the end of the first paragraph. Please see also ABC News for the complete PDF file on this.

The date shown far right in this second graph should read '10/20/13' I think...

Katy Perry's 'Prism' hit shelves today....

I'm much too old to be a fan of today's pop rockers, but I do prefer Katy's stuff to that of 'Twerky'. She's willing to take chances, and she gets results without having to get naked to get noticed.

However, listening to her 'Walking On Air' I'm reminded of Cher's 1998 'Believe'
on which there's some tricky electronic 'doctoring' of the vocal in places - and it
seems totally unnecessary. Katy has a good voice, and a pleasant range, and it shouldn't need augmentation with electronic gimmickry. In Cher's case, that was understandable, because by the time 'Believe' came out, Cher was on the doorstep of her everlasting 'farewell tour' which set some kind of world's record for its duration and our patience. Katy is right in her prime, and she doesn't need those kinds of props to make the product marketable.

Foggy Monday here....

Good Guys and Bad Guys: Who are they?

The ending paragraph of this rather lengthy story would seem to be suggesting that it may be time for another 'Lawrence of Arabia' to enter the scene and get everyone focused on some facts, rather than the prevailing fictions.

In other news.....

If you're one of those hair-splitters intent on an exact translation of the French here, rather than its familiar usage, then it says: "I haven't the least idea."
