When he says that it is also a radio transmitter, apparently that's right - it transmits the data to a receiver on a nearby power pole, and from there it goes to a data collection center for processing. It takes a reading every 15 minutes, or 96 times a day apparently. When I worked in the power stations for the power company we only recorded our readings once an hour.

Looks like I'm ok right now. Nothing on my meter indicated that it's a smart one.. Guess then, I can say that it's the dumb one.. :-)
