Fun with Backgrounds....

This one shows off the Cairo-Dock to advantage, and isn't too "in your face".

The thing about Linux Mint is that you can use Terminal (the Command Line) to find and add in various other program packages from other incarnations of Linux, and sort of "mix and match" with its components, until you have a system that's uniquely your own. All you really have to pay attention to is to make sure that you also bring along a program's various other dependencies while importing it into your operating system. And Terminal will usually tell you if it needs something more, or could manage nicely without something already there. It's interactive to a greater extent than Windows Command Prompt or Powershell, but those lately have been getting better. Maybe because of Terminal, perhaps.
