Updating your programs: Just a reminder...

This was recently updated, and there's a free version for personal use, so when you're going surfing on the web, "don't leave home without it".

And it's also time again to check your latest versions of Adobe's Flash Player and Shockwave Player. And why would you want the latest Shockwave Player? So that you can play a neat board game from Ancient Egypt......

and you can get it from the British Museum's Ancient Egypt page. Just look in the left margin for the word "Challenge" and click/tap on that for this page shown above. There's notes with it to explain how it is played, and you will be prompted with hints if you make a wrong move. It's for two players, and the object is to get all your markers off the board before your opponent does. If you would like to try a game that's been around for thousands of years and is still fun to play, this is for you!

How do you begin?.......................

To load the markers onto the board, ready for play, click/tap the word "Senet" just above the board.....

To start play, click/tap the words "Throw Sticks" in the little yellow box in the lower left of the little white area around the board. The player's turns are shown just under the left end of the board.

"Green" has first turn, and gets a "4" which not only allows moving a green marker four squares, but because it was "4", Green gets another turn....

Green moves a marker four squares (movement is in a reverse 'S' pattern along the board) and then clicks/taps "Throw Sticks" once more for the "free play"....

This time, Green gets a "2", which means moving a marker two squares, and then it becomes Blue's turn to "Throw Sticks", and the game goes on....
