At about six minutes after five a.m., I looked out to see if the sun was going to shine today, and glancing up almost directly overhead, I saw another jetliner coming south from its polar route from Europe, heading, I think, toward Hawaii, and the sun was shining brightly on its side. The above chart says sunrise here today is at 5:16 a.m., but because of our mountains, it doesn't actually show up until nearly six a.m., and here's a photo I took at about 6:06 a.m. showing how low it still is in the sky. And also how smoky it still is around here.
