I stumbled on this a while ago - it may be because you are using a photo that you have resized smaller than it was when it came out of the camera. Those ones of mine that you are enlarging twice are ones that I uploaded at the same size they were in the camera, such as 4,000 by 3,000 but if you've resized them smaller, like to 1680 by 1260, for example, then it doesn't work the same. So try some that haven't been made smaller after you downloaded them from the camera, and see if that helps.
