Seatools For Windows in Win-8.1 Pro Preview
Compatibility Assistant grumbled a little, but allowed me to proceed, and it does install and run OK, unlike my favorite media player, Winamp.
This built-in Windows Guard Dog doesn't let Winamp get past the Downloads folder. Will that force me to use Windows Media Player? Nah! Don't need it. And if it insists? - Remember what I said the other day about Filemenu Tools having its own built-in military strength shredder? Need I say more? It's only a couple of clicks away.... and it will do very nicely until Igor's 'MoveOnBoot' returns to its functioning status in here, or I get totally frustrated, and revert this Windows 8.1 partition back to its earlier incarnation of Windows 8 Pro The Elder, better known among aficionados as "Windows 8 The F-F-F-F-F-First..." - and you were thinking.......??? (Yes! that too!)
Addendum, October 25/2013:
This computer is using a Western Digital hard-drive, and while Seatools for Windows will perform certain tests on drives that are not Seagate or Maxtor,
more accurate and successful results will be obtained using Western Digital's own test programs for its drives, especially newer ones like mine, so check their website if you have a Western Digital drive.
