Windows 8.1 - The saga continues: problem-solving
If something like this 'Switch Between Apps' pop-up appears, and you try clicking on it to get rid of it, and all it does is animate the arrow in it, don't have a fit......
Pick an empty part of your taskbar, right-click it, select 'Properties' and when the 'Taskbar and Navigation properties' window appears, select the 'Navigation' tab, and then make sure
there's a check in the box for 'When I click the upper-left corner, switch between my recent apps'. Then, the way to get rid of that annoying pop-up is to point your mouse pointer into the upper left corner of the display. You shouldn't have to actually click it, just so it goes into the corner. The pop-up should disappear.
Why I'm being offered instructions for Touch on a plain no-touch monitor beats me. Maybe the gurus at Windows would like to explain that one. With all its other refinements, I'd assume Windows 8.1 should be able to recognize the difference between a touchscreen and a non-touchscreen display, but apparently not without some configuring. And discovering where and how to do that isn't exactly easy.
