Yes, it has Desktop Widgets...


...and perhaps I ought to add here that most of them work "out of the box", but some need other dependencies added to the system first. So you have to be sure to read the directions. But there is a fairly good assortment. And as I said in an earlier rant about this, PCBSD 9.2 looks quite a lot like the other systems we've all known and loved. And it works quite nicely. 

And if anyone's wondering what that desktop item with the "Start Kate" on it is all about, "Kate" is the name of the enhanced text editor built into this system, and this widget is just a quick way of accessing it. You can't do that in Windows.
