If you install PCBSD 9.2 operating system....

your first task should be to go into Control Panel > System Manager > Tasks,
and there you will see two selections. The first says "Fetch System Source" and the second says "Fetch Ports Tree". You need to click on each in turn (one at a time, please) to let the system download files for each. This takes a few moments for each, because there's a lot of those files to download. When one of those tells you it is finished, then you can begin the second, and again wait for it to finish. It will tell you.

And you're wondering "Why is this so important?" - It's important because your new system needs to connect with its sources of information, somewhat similar to a Windows system linking with its Windows Updates. And that "Ports Tree"?
That's how individual Apps or programs make contact with their home bases and get updated, or get replaced by new versions.

If you don't have all this information  in your system, then some features may not function correctly, or perhaps not at all. So before you decide there's something wrong with the whole thing, try making sure you have given it all its necessary information and its collection of ports.

And as I said previously, this is a lot like a combination of Windows and Mac, and it comes with desktop widgets (clock, weather, etc.) just as you'd expect of a modern operating system. This is a nice system, and the price is right.
