Winamp may still be alive and well...

I've been using the Winamp player for years, because I love its compact little 'windowshade' mode that fits right into the upper frame of an open Window, and
lets me control the player without using a lot of space. So like others, I was not happy to hear it was closing as of December 20th. I hope this deal goes ahead, because Winamp is still a great player, and it deserves to live on. It has nice skins, a great sound, and it does everything well. Let's keep it going, please!

Look at the top edge of this window, for Winamp's 'windowshade' mode.  Now just try getting Windows Media Player to do that - and lots of luck, Kiddies!
Microsoft should have bought this one and thrown away theirs.
