For Tommy in New York......
Here's a Blast From The Past to remind you there's only 56 more days until that fat old guy in the red suit comes by with his reindeer to poop on your roof and clog up the gutters! All I want for Christmas is the 2nd of January!
Speaking of "cranking up the old Victrola" don't forget to treat it to a new pickup cartridge periodically - I got a new one for mine a while ago, and they've improved them a lot over the years. You should try a Grado. It'll make you think your favorite records are in much better shape than you thought. And speaking of that, I have a gadget on the kitchen tap that changes from bubble-stream to spray with a push or pull, and before I play a Golden Oldie, I give it a rinse under the spray in lukewarm water and then gently dry it off with a soft tea towel. A clean record sounds better and lasts much longer.
In American, y'all, it's Dish Towel! It was named Tea Towel by our British masters before we negotiated our freedom from slavery to the Crown back when men were men and all the gals were stuck with the breasts they were born with instead of the best that their money could buy. I think Pierre Trudeau was involved - with the repatriation of the Constitution as well as with the gals. His specialty was the one-finger salute to his admiring fans. It made him famous.
And you can dry those washed LPs with anything soft and absorbent, like Sweetie Pie's unmentionables if you like, just so they're clean and dry. The records, not the unmentionables. Hopefully, you picked a clean pair...any questions?
Ray, you really shouldn't have... :-)
ReplyDeleteI do love Brubeck though. Thanks
Actually, I haven't listened for any of his stuff in some time. Guess it's time to crank up that ole Victrola I bought some time ago..
