If you use a separate plug-in hard-drive for back-ups, like for example Seagate's FreeAgent Desk, which automatically does periodic (usually daily) back-ups of your main hard-drive, don't forget that it needs to be defragmented occasionally too.
I just put Auslogics Disk Defrag to work on mine, and after it analyzed it and reported it was 21% fragmented, it took one hour, one minute, and 39 seconds to defragment that portable drive. It had never been defragged before, because I just didn't think of it. So, 'Think or Thwim' Kiddies.....
And if you're looking for the Snipping Tool in Windows 8, the easy way to find the little darling is to use Windows Explorer (the folder in the holder in the taskbar) to show you the window for your C:\ drive, and then just use the little search box in its taskbar and type in Snipping Tool. It will do a search and show you a couple of shortcuts for it. You can drag one onto your desktop and select 'create shortcut here', and then you'll have it handy. Too many shortcuts on the desktop? Make a new folder under your main username one, and name it shortcuts. Create a shortcut to it for your desktop. To add shortcuts into that folder, just drag them on your desktop onto that shortcut for the shortcuts folder, and it will ask if you want to move that to the shortcuts folder. You do, so release it and let it go. Click on the shortcuts folder icon to find it again in that folder. Drag it back onto the desktop if you need it there for a while. Now your desktop doesn't need to look cluttered.
