I remember exactly what I was doing when I heard the news of his assassination, on that Friday in November, 1963. I was on a stepladder outside my house at a hydro-electric site 92 miles north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, putting on the storm windows for the coming winter, and I nearly fell off the ladder when someone called out the news to me. It seemed inconceivable that this could happen.
