I'll give you a little hint - it's the second house from the right, in the second row from the top. And it's nice to see folks who don't have to conserve power actually taking an interest in our environment. To them, our Daddy Bigbucks' Good Guys of the Week Award.
Loads of these can be seen over here. And also multitudinous wind turbines.
ReplyDeleteAnd the auto industry now talks electric.
Btw my next car will be electric! No gear box, no cluttering when shifting in reverse, no clutch, just comfort.
And clean. Super clean.
I know I know... but that problem can be solved too.
Otherwise: have a good weekend Ray.
The reason there aren't so many of these installations around here is because the bulk of our electricity
ReplyDeletecomes from several large and some smaller hydro-electric projects, and
those have provided us with comparatively cheap power, which is also both clean and renewable. But as demand continues to grow, we are now looking at these other alternatives.
And I think it's just great the way that a bankruptcy can smarten up those guys who were cutting each other's throats to maintain the good old status quo of the internal combustion engine/oil industry combination in spite of all the evidence on what it has been doing to our planet. But I'm afraid that it's a case of "too soon old, too late smart" because
the damage is already done. I could do a long rant about this, but I'd better not... mostly because I myself have been car-crazy most of my life, and have spent far too much money on making those guys richer for making all that junk that turns this year's cash into next year's scrap metal and clouds of smoke.
I'm not the one who ought to be up on the soapbox, preaching about it.
Except I should say I'm sorry I was such a 'slow learner', Kiddies.
I still love to drive, have been loving it all my life since receipt of licence when I was 18.
ReplyDeleteThe 70s were the worst, when cars drove along with completely unfiltered exhaust, before the cat car era set in. When an old beetle comes along nowadays, with his exhaust unfiltered, the whole neighbourhood stinks. And I drove beetles for 30 years.
I also like air travel, which is another source of pollution.
Yet a chance to the good can be made, the drawers of the manufacturers are full of blueprints for clean cars and planes, not only that. I believe they could start mass production straight away.
We cannot afford to further take the earth as a dump yard, or all 9 billion of us will be dumped not too soon.
Thanks for sharing your always interesting blog, Ray, and have a beautiful Sunday. It´s been a lovely Saturday here. Some rain forecast for 2morrow.
