Today's 'Question Everything' ....

Just wondering... "Why are you playing around with Windows 8 when you could be using PC-BSD 10.0 ?"

As I'm getting familiar with this latest in a long line of Unix-based systems, I'm discovering nice things about it. For one thing, it comes with a lot of the stuff you would have to get elsewhere to fluff up your system, if you weren't using this one. "Like what?" you ask. "Like its own Office program and graphics handling program and text editor, for example..." I answer. This system is a lot more than just a pretty face.

I learned something else, too - it isn't the same as Linux. They share a few of the common commands, but it is really a different animal under the hide. So don't make the mistake of thinking that because you can use the commands in Linux, you will be fine with BSD. You won't, because it has its own commands and its own systems, and that's why it also has its own handbook, which you should consult attentively and often, because "when all else fails, read the directions!" And this one has those as part of its system. You don't have to search through obscure support websites or search through endless Knowledge Base articles for answers to most of the routine questions. Just look in the handbook. It's probably in there.

Here's a couple of screenshots with more information about the new version...
