Updated this other computer yesterday...

It seems that if you don't use a computer often enough to keep it reasonably up to date, it's a helluva task. Installing in one O/S 17 updates, and in another 31, I had to stop and run the Windows Updates Repair Tool or Mr. Fixit a couple of times, to get everything to finish. And if it's set to automatically install updates, then why the hell doesn't it? Why do I have to kick-start it to get it doing that?

Microsoft has been in the business plenty long enough now that they ought to have the routine down to a science, and yet we're still having problems with simple routine tasks. Can anyone tell me why? Why do we have to outsmart the system to get it doing whatever it was supposedly designed to do automatically?
Doesn't anyone really know how to play this game? Sometimes, I wonder.

  1. This is so Windows- / Microsoft- typical.
Same update issues over here with my spouse´s and my dad´s machines.

Not a problem, we know Windows, don´t we....

I´m using a Macbook machine with Yosemite OS. Far less fussing with updates, service packs (wussat??) etc. Far far less...

Thanks for posting interesting computer hints, Ray.
