Hay Ray...You must have run out of news cites since you are now perusing the Moscow Times...Looks like you're trying to find out what's happening in the world from ALL sides...Do they have a Russian Ann Landers?
I'm not sure - I haven't looked for any 'Dear Abby' stuff. I've been trying to get the Russian slant on recent events, and of course, just like our own media, there's a lot of propaganda and bullshit mixed into it.
This Russian jet, for example, is only one of two that they recently upgraded, and sent to a western Russian airbase, which will be receiving the rest of a squadron as it becomes modernized. So this isn't exactly a cause for alarm.
Looking at this aircraft, it reminds me a lot of our Avro Arrow from the 1950s, except for ours not having twin stabilizers for the tail. And I'm sure they got their share of the plans for that from us before it got scrapped because it was too expensive. That isn't a problem in Russia - if they want it, they build it, and the hell with the expense.
They're now trying to say that the photos of troop build-ups along the Ukrainian border were taken last year during military exercises. Sounds nice, but it has a nasty smell... Putin's problem is that this isn't the 1970s, and the old Mushroom Philosophy of keeping us in the dark and feeding us horseshit doesn't work with today's instant communications.
