Of Lotus blossoms, and King Tut...

Uncle Ron and I were commenting in a previous posting about this, so I thought I'd add a bit to it....

I mentioned that King Tut is said to have been born by emerging from a blue Lotus, and this is a representation of that from the Cairo Museum....

It has suffered from the ravages of time, so here's another of it, as Tutankhamun probably looked when it was first made....

And here's his Lotus blossom chalice in its present condition, without coloring. On top of the smaller budding blooms of the handles on each side sits the god of Eternity on his reed boat holding in each hand a palm frond signifying millions of years, with the hieroglyph for Life on each.

It was also believed that one's spirit lives as long as one's name is preserved.
So let me again repeat that wish or prayer voiced rather awkwardly in those hieroglyphs around the rim of this chalice:

May You Live Forever,
Loving Enlightenment,
Overcoming Adversity,
And Enjoying Happiness.
