A little update on Mighty Microsoft....

On Sunday, I posed the rhetorical question 'Is Microsoft yesterday's news?' and it seems the answer is coming down the pipe this morning, and it appears to be in the affirmative.

The company that made its pile and its name by putting Windows on 98% of the world's desktops in its heyday now appears destined to go toe-to-toe and nose-to-nose with its famous fruit-flavored and out in front competitor in the field of mobiles and cloud computing. Wrong move, Ex-lax!

The competition is years ahead of you in R & D, not to mention $ale$, and at the risk of being repetitious, may I repeat: 'You don't get a second chance to make a first impression' and your competition has already been there for years.

So please tell me what's wrong with doing what you do best, instead of trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear? The world isn't breathlessly awaiting a Microsoft iPad, because we've already got the originals. We might be not-too-breathlessly awaiting Windows Nine, though, if you're still doing that by the time you get everyone happy with Windows 8x. And how long's that going to take?
Some of us long time long-suffering users/fans/critics would like to know....
