No eBook Reader? No Problem...
Whether or not you have one of the many eBook Readers, or just your faithful and handy PC, this Calibre eBook Management Program can handle your eBook needs, manage your library, and provide a generic reader for your PC, so you can start right now to enjoy eBooks. This is probably as good as it gets with eBook programs, and it's a really good one, so do yourself a favor - check it out.
The download is just over 50 Mb, and comes with its own guide.
Looks like I goofed saying Calibre had its own built-in reader.... I'm sure it used to, in earlier versions. To solve that problem, you can use a lean and quick PDF Reader which also reads eBook formats, called Sumatra PDF, which you can get
from this website, and by the way, with Sumatra PDF you can dump Adobe's Reader and save Megabytes of space and lots of headaches, so check it out.
Sumatra will show you the 'Quick Start Guide' for Calibre, and you're on your way.... and I'm sorry I didn't check that out sooner.
About viewing eBooks with Calibre: I was right, sort of. Say 'semi-right' in saying that Calibre has its own Reader. They don't call it a Reader, but rather a Viewer.....and here's how they explain that:
But what I said above about Sumatra PDF still goes - it reads the popular formats of eBooks, in case you haven't got one of the 40 or so different devices that Calibre can work with, ranging from actual Readers all the way to other hand-helds like cell phones. (This is a great program!) - So what are you waiting for? Read a book..... and Enjoy!
