Updates for PC-BSD....

When updates are available for your installed programs, an icon in the system tray changes and a prompt opens to inform you. You can then open your programs manager (shown) in which the relevant program updates are shown.
Then you select each in turn, and it first of all downloads its update, and then installs it. After that, you can move on to the next, and do it. You can watch the whole operation, and see when it is done. The process involves downloading a new version of the program, and then replacing the existing one with the new.
And you don't have to go into Registry to repair Windows Updates or anything,
partly because there isn't any.... This system doesn't need a Registry, because the whole thing works that way, and it literally "just works". But that's also why the 'Command prompt' (Konsole) is quite popular. With it, you can modify your system's components, add additional ones, subtract unwanted ones, and just generally keep your sticky little finger on the pulse of PC-BSD..... If you know the right stuff to type in at the flashing cursor, that is.... So if you ever wanted to learn how a computer system works, here's your chance. You can even build your own if you're a real hacker.
