Upgrading Windows Technical Preview: The Easy Way

Step by step, I'll try to show you how easy it is...

Above the Start Button, locate and click on PC Settings....

Then locate and click on Update and Recovery....

And do that again for Preview Builds....

On this window, you can choose between Fast or Slow. The difference is that Slow means a stable, relatively trouble-free version, while Fast means the latest "nightly" which may be more 'buggy' and you may need to do more to keep it going. So for those who don't enjoy "living on the edge", choose Slow. You'll get a version you can recommend to your favorite Aunt Nellie. Would I lie to you?

When you click on Check Now, you will be told if there is a new version available. If there is, you will be shown another button saying Download Now.
If you click on that one, the new version is automatically downloaded, and then you are invited to "Install Now". And it's just that easy. Microsoft has improved this whole process marvelously since the days when we had to download each new version as an ISO file, and use a burning program like ImgBurn to make a DVD of it, and then put that into the DVD Drive to get it installed. This is a lot simpler, and practically automatic. You'll find it quite painless, I'm sure.

"So how is your Tech Preview running so far?" you ask. Very well, thanks. I've had this now for about a week, and the only problems I've had with it have been because of my own stupidity, trying things I should have left alone. This system when not being "tinkered with" by yours truly runs like a good Swiss watch, and I don't see any reliability issues at all. I've been using this full-time, just as I would any other regular Windows operating system, just to find out how reliable it really is. I can't find any reliability issues with it at all. And it does have a lot of nice improvements that I think will make it a lot more popular than Windows Eight or that other one, Vasta Vista. For ease of use and a solid chassis it reminds me a lot of Windows 7, my favorite system so far. But it has a lot of nice improvements we didn't have in Windows 7.

I like the fact that we can have our favorite gadgets again, and I also like being able to enjoy full screen tiles of things like USA Today, which is one of the nicer features in Windows 8. You don't get that from their regular website pages, as you likely know. So you will probably enjoy exploring the new features in it.

Speaking of gadgets, here is where to find a great program with lots of them.

And as you see from these screenshots, it works great in the latest Windows.
